we had a nice rest at a waterstones cafe while waiting for off peak tube hours to start and for the rain to let up a bit.
we didn’t miss off peak. in fact, it was standing room only on the train back to reading but i’m very glad that we were able to experience it. in contrast to public transit during rush hour in the states, the train was very quiet and the people were very polite.
seriously, no shoving. no squalling brats. lots of "pardons", "sorrys" and polite , quiet conversation. one gentleman even gave leff a portion of his paper to read.
